For years, Israel and Jordan have diverted water from the Jordan River into the Dead Sea to use for irrigation and drinking. The activities of chemical companies and climate change also contribute to evaporation.
Scientists believe that this is nature's revenge for harmful human activity, and efforts should be focused on finding solutions to stabilize the Dead Sea. Yet again, nature can bring balance - the water becomes thicker and saltier, and this slows down evaporation.
